Anti-Villains at Glasgow Film Festival

Physical Impossibility are teaming up with Glasgow Film Festival again, to bring Anti-Villains to their 2018 Behind The Scenes strand! Our team of six invited guests will each present on the best-worst baddies, the loveable scum of the cinematic earth. Our contributors this year are:

Claire Biddles (Sad Girl Cinema)
Megan Mitchell (Matchbox Cineclub)
Craig McClure (Physical Impossibility)
Jessica McGoff (Video Essayist)
Video Namaste
Sean Welsh (Physical Impossibility, Matchbox Cineclub)

Anti-Villains is the latest event Physical Impossibility has produced for GFF, following GFF16’s Bad Romance and GFF17’s Patsies! Like its predecessors, Anti-Villains is a response to GFF’s retrospective strand, this year dedicated to Rebel Heroes. The brochure blurb explains it all:

If you’re tired of Rebel Heroes, try an Anti-Villain! While GFF celebrates the former, Physical Impossibility considers the latter – the love-to-hate them, so-bad-they’re-good, well-meaning scum of the cinematic earth. They’re the charismatic antidote to the basic brave. They’re the pitiable something-to-proves versus the got-it-all-worked outs. They’re the misunderstood altruists working towards the greater good, defeated by the short-sighted smart-arses. And they’re any time Alan Rickman wears a beard. Join Physical Impossibility’s cadre of experts as they discuss all the times you wish the good guys had lost.
